Fireworks planned in area
Four public fireworks displays are planned around Ozark County for the Independence Day holiday. Three of the four displays take place Saturday evening, June 30. All of the displays will begin around dark.
Displays at Theodosia, Bakersfield and Squires will be presented on Saturday night, while Pontiac's annual fireworks show will be held Wednesday, July 4.
The display at Theodosia will be held over Bull Shoals Lake and can be viewed from the park or by boat.
In Bakersfield, the fireworks will be held at the park in downtown and will be the grand finale for the daylong Bakersfield School all-class reunion.
The display at Squires will be held at the fire department across from Spurlock's Store.
Pontiac's Fourth of July celebration begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a barbecue in the Pontiac park. Smoked meat and all the fixins will be offered (beans, cole slaw, potato salad), along with music from 6 to 8 p.m. Fireworks begin at dark - about 9 p.m. T-shirts, hats, glow necklaces, beads and other goods will be sold to raise money for the fireworks display, which can be viewed in the park or by boat on Bull Shoals Lake.
