Abraham is a 2025 FIRST Dean’s List Award semi finalist

Dylan Abraham, a junior at Gainesville High School and the son of John and Melinda Abraham, was nominated to be the 2025 semi finalist for the FIRST Dean’s List Award during a ceremony held at The Sheild at Arkansas State University in Mountain Home, Arkansas, on Thursday, Feb., 27. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a non-profit organization that aims to prepare young people for the future through life-changing youth robotics programs that builds skills, confidence and resilience. 

This is Dylan’s third year on the First Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 16 Bomb Squad, based in Mountain Home. Dylan does not just participate as a teammate, he also works as mentor for the FTC (First Technical Challenge) team at Bakersfield Junior High. He travels with the Bakersfield team helping them at their competitions. While at the competitions, Dylan also steps up as a referee. 

In the nomination letter from his Bomb Squad mentors, part of it reads, “Dylan’s leadership is defined by his ability to lead by example and commitment to helping others succeed. He motivates team members with his go-getter attitude, always the first to offer help and guidance. Whether mentoring an FTC team in Bakersfield or stepping up as a referee, Dylan shows that leadership is about inspiring others to give their best. His style is collaborative and inclusive, ensuring all team members have the support and resources they need. Dylan fosters a positive atmosphere by celebrating successes and encouraging learning from challenges, creating a cohesive environment where everyone can thrive.”

Dylan will have a 6 to 10 minute interview with the Dean’s List Award judges at Arkansas Regionals in Searcy, Arkansas. Finalists will be announced at the competition.
