Gainesville JH volleyball team wins second consecutive conference championship
The Gainesville Junior High volleyball team, coached by Heidi Gaulding, are the Summit Conference champions for the second consecutive year.
Gainesville, who was the number two seed going into the tournament, had a first round bye and then met Mansfield in the semifinal game and beat them in two sets (25-16 and 25-21).
In the championship game, the Lady Bulldogs faced Sparta, the number one seed, and beat them in two sets (25-15 and 25-18).
“The girls really came together and played with determination to bring the conference championship home for the second year in a row,” said Coach Heidi Gaulding. “Their serving game was aggressive; defensively they played tough; and they were a strong force at the net.”
On Monday, March 24, the team played Fordland in regular season play and beat them in three sets (18-25, 25-16, 15-4). The win brings their season record to 11-1-1 on the season.
Gainesville finishes their season with home games on Tuesday, March 25 when they host Sparta and Friday, March 28 when they host Chadwick.
