GHS Bulldogs setting new school track and field records
The Gainesville Bulldogs boys and girls varsity track and field teams have been showing up and showing out, bringing home medals and setting new school records.
The Bulldogs recently competed at the Ash Grove Invitational, where 19 schools were vying for top spots, and the West Plains Invitational where 29 schools were participating. “These student-athletes faced off against some of the toughest competition in the area—including many larger class schools—and walked away with a combined 30 medals,” said GHS Coach Gary Emrick.
Gainesville brought home 17 medals from Ash Grove and 13 medals from West Plains.
“These student-athletes have put in countless hours of practice, building strength, endurance, and most importantly—mental toughness,” Emrick said. “That effort is paying off in a big way, and we are proud of their dedication and drive.”
But that’s not all, according to coaches Gary Emrick and David Murphy - several students made school history and set new all-time Gainesville High School records in the following events:
Girls Distance Medley Relay (1200, 400, 800, 1600): Alyssa Smith, Lauren Smith, Sarah Klessig, Jessica Suit
Girls Triple Jump: Lillian Hejdak
Boys 4x100 Meter Relay: Damion Goss, Peyton Hathcock, Logan Funk, Ryder Murphy
Boys Distance Medley Relay (1200, 400, 800, 1600): Archer Luna, Issac Pippin, Trey Pendergrass, Ryder Murphy
