Lady Bulldogs sit at 10-7 going into final week
The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs softball team come into their last week of play of the 2025 regular season with a record of 11 wins and 7 losses.
The girls scored a 3-1 win over the Conway Lady Bears but took losses against the Lady Pirates of Norwood and the Lady Trojans of Sparta (8-4).
"We travelled to Norwood last Monday and should have stayed on the bus,” said head coach Joe Walrath. “Norwood has a very good team this year, and we just made way too many mistakes and took a 3-13 loss.”
Last Friday, May 3, the girls travelled to Conway to play the hometown Lady Bears, and redeemed themselves with a win.
“We struggled all game with their pitching,” Walrath said. “Katelyn Morgan pitched a great game for us striking out 12.
“Lakely Anderson and Annabelle Freeman came up with key hits to give us a 3-1 win.”
The Lady Bulldogs also faced Sparta at Conway on Friday.
“Hadley Warden hit well in this game along with Emma Mcginnis. We did fine until the rain came in the fourth inning. Katelyn could not get a grip on the ball, and they scored five of their eight runs and beat us 4-8."
The Lady Bulldogs were set to play Blue Eye at home on Monday for senior night. They’ll also travel to Fordland on Wednesday to end the regular season.
The Lady Bulldogs will host in the class 1 district 4 tournament May 12-14.
