Good Samaritan beaten, robbed along roadside; two jailed
Two Douglas County men were arrested following an assault and robbery incident Saturday on Highway 5 north.
The Ozark County Sheriff's Department reported Brandon Twyman, 27, and Wendell W. Hicks, 23, were charged with first degree robbery and second degree assault, both felonies. They were jailed on $100,000 bond each. Officials expect additional charges and possibly another arrest in the case.
The sheriff's office received a call at 12:51 a.m. Saturday from a man who said he had been assaulted and wanted to be checked out by paramedics. When authorities arrived at the scene, the victim said that he had been contacted by a woman he knew who asked him to bring her gas for her vehicle.
After arriving and putting has in her vehicle, the man was allegedly attacked and beaten by the two suspects who were hiding in the woods just off the road. The two men allegedly robbed the victim and then fled.
Officials said the investigation is continuing. The victim's name has not been released.
