Gov. Nixon and wife float the North Fork
Gov. Jay Nixon and his wife, Georganne, made a quiet, unannounced visit to Ozark County last week to float the North Fork of the White River.
Former Ozark County resident Wayne Stewart said last week the Nixons and the governor’s security detail took their canoes out of the river on property he owns on the North Fork a short distance from Dawt. They stayed at an Ozark County resort that asked not to be named to protect the governor’s privacy.
Nixon spokesman Scott Holste confirmed the visit and said no photographs were available because the visit was personal time. The governor and his wife were “glad to get to spend a couple of days down there, just relaxing,” Holste said.
