Historium lists upcoming schedule
Apron Strings: Recipes and Recollections, the 114-color-page collage of photos, stories and recipes first published in September by the Ozark County Genealogical and Historical Society, is already in its second printing, and only about 30 copies are left, say project co-chairs Janet Taber and Susan Ault.
Copies of the cookbook are $15 at the Ozark County Historium on the west side of the Gainesville square, at the Ozark County Times office and by mail. Make checks payable to OCGHS (add $3 for postage) and mail to P.O. Box 4, Gainesville, MO 65655.
The Historium recently announced its holiday schedule. It will be closed Dec. 19 through Dec. 30, reopening Jan. 2, 2012.
Historium and OCGHS volunteers are working on the Historium's next project, a readers theater of civil war stories to be presented to the public sometime next spring. Mary Sparks, Lin Waterhouse and Jane Elder are putting the finishing touches on the script, which is drawn from factual stories of Ozark Countians' struggles during the war.
It is expected that auditions will be held early next year, perhaps inviting students from area schools to participate as well as other volunteers. More details will be forthcoming in future issues of the Ozark County Times.
