Husband and wife plead guilty to theft recorded on game camera

Husband-and-wife duo Jeremiah and Lindsey Partee of Mountain Home, Arkansas, each pleaded guilty to a felony charge of theft of property valued at $750 or more during the July 5 session of Ozark County Law Day. Lindsey was given a five-year prison sentence, and Jeremiah was given a seven-year prison sentence, and both sentences are ordered to be run concurrently with prison time they are currently serving out of Franklin County.

According to the probable cause statement in the case prepared by Ozark County Deputy Curtis Dobbs, officers were recently notified that several items had been taken from a Tecumseh residence on County Road 320. The property owner, David James, said he was missing a wood stove, two sawmill blades, a chainsaw, a metal working forge and miscellaneous brass items. He also said a rear window had been broken in a pickup.

During an interview with officers on Jan. 29, James said his game camera, set up near the barn where the items were taken, had captured photos of three individuals removing items from the property. An older-model tan Jeep or SUV could also be seen in the images recorded around 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27.

Ozark County Chief Deputy Winston Collins and Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper John Roberts had stopped a vehicle matching that description at 3:20 p.m. that day, just over five hours after the game camera photos were taken. Jeremiah and Lindsey Partee had been arrested in that stop and booked on other charges. The Partees were reportedly wearing the same clothing in the booking photos from the traffic stop as the suspects captured in the game camera photos. Another individual in the traffic stop, whose name wasn’t released, was identified as the third person pictured in the game camera photos.

A June 29, 2016, St. Louis Post Dispatch article reported that the Partees were charged with stealing a motorcycle from a Stanton car dealership on I-44 using a stolen truck and trailer. Online records indicate both Lindsey and Jeremiah pleaded guilty to tampering with a motor vehicle in those cases. Jeremiah received a seven-year suspended execution of sentence in that case, and Lindsay was given a five-year suspended execution of sentence; both were placed on supervised probation. After the Ozark County cases were filed, probation violation reports were issued in both of the Franklin County cases, and they are now currently serving the back-up sentences in those respective cases.
