Legislative report: Jan. 11, 2017
Greetings from your state Capitol. At noon Jan. 4, I was sworn into the Missouri House of Representatives for my fourth and final term. Because of term limits, I am not allowed to serve in the House for more than eight years.
Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court Patricia Breckenridge administered the oath of office during the day’s ceremony.
I can’t tell you how honored I am to be allowed to serve the citizens of the 155th District for one more term. I have been assigned to chair the Appropriations–Education Committee (which includes elementary and secondary education as well as higher education), the Budget Committee and the Pensions Committee. I look forward to the task ahead of me this session.
The Missouri Legislature is in session this year from Jan. 4 until 6 p.m. May 12. This is Missouri’s 99th General Assembly, first regular session.
Serving the people of the 155th District has truly been a privilege, and I look forward to what the next two years in the House have to hold. We have many issues facing our state, but if we work together, putting party politics aside, I have no doubt we will meet those challenges.

Rep. Lyle Rowland
