‘To serve and protect’
First of all, I would like to thank all the of the deputies of the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department. You guys are the bomb that criminals wake up to. Thank you!
Everything is not as commendable in the OCSD these days. Recently on Feb. 20, I had an issue and called the sheriff. We discussed the issue. He said he would look into it and get back with me. Three hundred and fifty hours and two weeks later, no contact.
In another, different issue, I called March 10, at approximately 11:40 a.m. with two questions for the sheriff. The dispatcher informed me she would not take questions and said I had to email, send a letter, call the commissioners office or write a letter to the editor. I have no internet!
Question 1: Did the sheriff know that the constitution denies power to a government to monetize its debt?
#2: Should not, the residents and taxpayers have a voice in lengthy government contracts?
Less than 30 words, yet dispatch said they did not have time because it was a 911 number. I asked “is it not dual purpose?” She responded reluctantly with a yes. “Thanks for the info,” was my response. Then I concluded call.
With lengthy respond time, elongated wait and difficulty contacting sheriff along with short or impatient dispatchers rushing citizens, we should at least have a voice in what our jail is used for.
After all, we are the people who pay for it.
