More teams needed for Relay For Life; Time change for June 10 event

The American Cancer Society Ozark County Relay For Life event this year will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday, June 10, at Benton Breeding Stadium at Gainesville High School. This is a change from the overnight Relay events that have been held in the past.

Event organizers said the change was made in hopes that more teams would participate. “So far, we have 15 teams with two new ones signing up this year,” said Paula Rose, team recruitment chair. “We’d love to have more people involved. Gather up your friends, church members, a school group, your co-workers, and form a team.”

Rose added that there is no minimum or maximum number of members for a team, and there’s no cost at all to have a team. “Some people think you have to walk or run throughout the event,” Rose said. “But you don’t have to walk or run at all. Your team can fundraise before the event or only the night of the event or both - whatever you want to do.”

For more information about having a team, call Rose at 417-989-1282.
