The 2024 Ozark County Cookin’ is available now at newsstands
This year’s Ozark County Cookin’ cookbook is now available wherever the Times is sold. The annual Times’ publication that showcases Ozark Countians’ favorite recipes, along with photos and articles about local cooks.
The cover features Gainesville husband-and-wife duo Seth and Whitney Miller. Seth serves as a sergeant at the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department, and Whitney is a teacher at Gainesville Elementary School. The couple tell their story about how they began cooking together as a way to reconnect and explore different cuisine. They’ve shared recipes for Gypsy Schnitzel and Cinnamon Vanilla Cake with peaches (or apples).
This year’s cookbook also has more than 50 favorite recipes submitted by Ozark County readers and friends spanning across a variety of categories including appetizers and snacks, beverages, breads, breakfast, cakes, cookies, jams and jellies, main dishes, desserts, pies and cobbler, sides, snacks, soups and chilis.
Many of the recipes are accompanied by photos of the dishes and/or the cooks who submitted them. Some are treasured recipes passed down through generations of family cooks.
For every recipe that is submitted each year to the Times for the Ozark County Cookin’ cookbook, a chance is entered into a drawing for $100. This year the winner was Madison Plakorus of Theodosia. Her recipe for Spanakopita earned her the winning drawing ticket.
