Absentee voting open for April 4 General Municipal Election

Absentee voting for the April 4 General Municipal Election has begun. The election is open to those who live within the Gainesville city limits and those who live in the Lutie  and Bradleyville School Districts.

Gainesville Board of Alderman (city council): Three positions are open, and the three incumbents for the positions have filed: [Robert] Seth Collins for west ward alderman, Dana Crisp for east ward alderman and Treva Warrick for center ward alderman. 

Lutie School Board: Four candidates have filed for two open positions on the school board: Incumbents Robert Edwards and Matt Shockey refiled, along with candidates Lois Honeycutt and Mandy Hughes. 

Nine voters who live in Ozark County but in the Bradleyville School District can vote in that school board election. 

 

No election needed

The following school boards had the same number of candidates as positions open, therefore they do not have to hold an election:

Bakersfield: There are three open positions. Incumbents Mike Scott, Matthew Evans and Tim Watlington refiled for the positions. No one else filed, meaning there will not be an election. 

Dora: There are three open positions. Incumbents Lindsay Sellars, Cass Martin and Jerry Moritz have refiled for the positions. No one else filed, meaning there will not be an election.

Gainesville: There are three open positions. Incumbents Corey Hillhouse, Jerry Kiger and Marti Warden have refiled. No one else filed, meaning there will not be an election. 

Thornfield: There are three open positions. Incumbents Terry Ewing, Donnie Cunningham and William Mitchell Cook have refiled. No one else filed, meaning there will not be an election. 

 

How to vote absentee

Those properly registered to vote in Ozark County who are unable to go to the polls on the April 4 Election Day can contact the Ozark County Clerk’s office for the required application to vote absentee. 

 Absentee ballots may be voted by mail or in person at the Clerk’s office, open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the Ozark County Courthouse in the center of the Gainesville square. 

The last day to register to vote for the April 4 General Municipal Election is March 8, and the County Clerk’s Office will be open until 5 p.m. that day.
