APRIL 8, 2025, GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

The following positions were announced in the Times in December, and candidates were invited to file to run for the positions from Dec. 10-31, 2024. Candidate profiles for local contested races will be published closer to the election date. 

 

NON-CONTESTED

 

Two file for two positions on Thornfield School Board

The Thornfield School Board has two seats coming open that will be voted on during the April 8 General Municipal Election. 

The seats that are coming open are those of Michael Shane Funk and Rachelle Dean. Both have re-filed for the positions, and no one else filed.

Because the number of candidates match the number of open positions, there will not be an election. 

 

 

Three file for three positions on Gainesville City Council

The Gainesville City Council has three seats coming open that will be voted on during the April 8 General Municipal Election. 

The seats that are coming open are those of Dana Crisp (east ward), Treva Warrick (center ward) and an open seat on the west ward that was vacated by Seth Collins, who resigned from the board last year.

Dana Crisp and Treva Warrick filed for re-election in their respective wards. Amanda Rogers filed for election for the west ward. 

Because the number of candidates match the number of open positions, there will not be an election. 

 

 

No one filed for PWSD #1, Theodosia water board

The Public Water Supply District #1, servicing the village of Theodosia, has one open seat on its board coming open in April 2025. 

That seat is occupied by Julie Rothenberg. A spokesperson for the organization said that Rothenberg did not refile for the position, and there were no other candidates who filed. 

A board member may be appointed, but the board still maintains a quorum and can vote with the members its has and does not need to fill the position, the spokesperson said. 

 

 

City of Bakersfield has two file for open board seats

The Bakersfield City Council has two seats coming open that will be voted on during the April 8 General Municipal Election. 

The seats that are coming open are those of Valerie Lockett and Dianna Stover. Stover refiled for the position. Lockett did not. Terena Lester also filed, and will fill Lockett’s position. 

Because the number of candidates match the number of open positions, there will not be an election. 

 

 

Ozark County Ambulance Board has one man file

The Ozark County Ambulance board has two seats coming open that will be voted on during the April 8 General Municipal Election. 

The seats that are coming open are those of Alan Kyle and Craig Fox. The Ozark County Clerk’s Office confirmed that Kyle filed for re-election, and no one else filed against him. 

 

 

 

 

CONTESTED

 

Gainesville School Board has six candidates

The Gainesville School District has three school board positions that will be voted on in the April 8 General Municipal Election.

Two of the school board seats are for a 3-year term on the board. The current school board members who occupy those seats are Heather Bushner and Robby Walrath. There are three people who filed to run for the two open seats (listed in the order they will appear on the ballot):

• Sally Hambelton

• Dakota Nash (incumbent)  

• Wes Uchtman

There is also one seat with a 1-year term, in which Jerry Kiger was originally elected to fill. He resigned from that school board position last year in order to become a teacher at the school. Dakota Nash was appointed by the board to fill Kiger's position until the election this year. For the one position with a 1-year term, three candidates filed (listed in the order they will appear on the ballot:

When the candidates filed to run, they had to choose whether they wanted to run for the 3-year term seats or the 1-year term seat. The races are separate, meaning they can only be elected into a seat in the category they chose to file for.

 

 

Bakersfield School Board has seven candidates

The Bakersfield School District has three school board positions that will be voted on in the April 8 General Municipal Election.

Two of the school board seats are for a 3-year term on the board. The current school board members who occupy those seats are Kyle Clayton and Darren Johnston. The candidates who filed for the 3-year seats are:

• Austin Lamb

• Kevin Goodwin

• Joseph Vaughn

There is also a one-year position open, which is a vacancy for the remainder of Mike Scott’s term. Candidates who have chosen to file to run for the one

•Andrea Russell

When the candidates filed to run, they had to choose whether they wanted to run for the 3-year term seats or the 1-year term seat, and the races are separate, meaning they can only be elected into a seat in the category they chose to file for.

 

 

Lutie School Board has four candidates running

The Lutie School District has two school board positions that will be voted on in the April 8 General Municipal Election. They are each for a 3-year term.

The current school board members who occupy those seats are Jenni Garrison and Suzanne Meeks. The candidates who filed for the 3-year seats are:

Dora School Board has three candidates file

The Dora School District has two school board positions that will be voted on in the April 8 General Municipal Election. 

The current school board members who occupy those seats are Shelby Nold and Dylan Leroy. 

The candidates who filed for the 3-year seats are:

Village of Theodosia Board has four candidates

The Village of Theodosia has three board positions that will be voted on in the April 8 General Municipal Election. They are each for 2-year terms. 

The current board members who occupy those seats are Julie Rothenberg, John Maglione and Kimberly Homer.

The candidates who filed for the 2-year terms are:
