A benefit auction and contributions for Dalton Durham, a Bakersfield man who was recently diagnosed with cancer, raised more than $42,630. The benefit featured items donated by members of the community and area businesses. The auction itself raised nearly $30,000, and more that $13,000 in cash was donated by area residents.”I just want to say how very grateful we are to live in such an amazing community,” said Durham’s sister Kelly Marsh. Dalton has undergone several treatments at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. The auction was held at the Bakersfield School gymnasium, which was crowded with people.
