City of Gainesville replaces west-side well pump and motor

Workers with Flynn Drilling were in Gainesville last week changing out the motor and pump at the Gainesville west-side well tower off County Road 806. The motor and pump were damaged in an Aug. 30 lightning strike, but the effects of the damage weren’t discovered until Sept. 15. Since that time, the city had asked residents living in the west ward, which includes everything west of the intersection of Highway 5 north and Highway 160 (including County Roads 800, 805 and 806, MM Highway, and the Wildwood area), to conserve water, especially during the new installation Oct. 13-14. The well is now back to running at full capacity.
