Commissioners set dates for bids, discuss storms

Brixey resident Benjamin Miller took this photo of the high water of Bryant Creek covering the bridge on Highway 181 at Hodgson Mill. Rain that fell from last Thursday through Sunday left several areas flooded, and the Ozark County Commissioners said there was some damage reported by residents in the northwestern section of Ozark County.
Commissioners discussed storm damage and set dates to accept bids during their regular meeting Monday morning.
According to Presiding Commissioner Terry Newton and Ozark County Emergency Management Director Curtis Ledbetter, the northwest part of Ozark County suffered damage from Sunday night’s severe storms.
Although absent because of illness, Western District Commissioner Layne Nance told fellow commissioners that county workers on the western side of the county are working hard to clean up the damage.
According to Ledbetter, communities just over the Taney/Ozark County line near Rueter, had broad rotation during one round of storms. Those storms tracked through the northwest part of Ozark County, the vast majority of the storms going through the Thornfield area.
Commissioners also set dates to open and accept bids for several county items.
Bids will be accepted and opened on May 13 for road oil, hot and cold mix and road chips.
Bids will be accepted and opened on May 20 for propane, fuel for the county and sheriff’s department vehicles and depository agreements.
