Council awards bids for library water drainage, flower bed revamp and creek bank repair

The city council approved installing a drainage curb and gutter near the Ozark County Volunteer Library to help divert water from the building’s exterior wall on Elm Street due to the fact that Second Street is higher than the curb in that location. The council approved the project and opened the three sealed bids submitted. One bid was from S Family Concrete LLC (owned by Travis Strain), for $5,510 total. Another was from Winston Scott for $6,500 total, and the third opened was Ray Grisham for $4,000. The council approved the lowest bid from Grisham with the requirement that it’s completed in 60 days.
Oasis Outdoor Improvement, which holds the city’s contract for planting and maintaining the city’s flower beds on the square, submitted a second bid for replacing the gravel and landscape cloth in those beds to prevent grass and weeds from growing. The bid also included replacing whiskey barrel planters where needing and planting mums in barrel. The council didn’t take action, as they believed they may need to advertise for bids for a project of that cost.
The final bid opening involved creek bank stabilization needed after the recent flood near the city’s waste water treatment facility. The city received one sealed bid from Ray Grisham for that project for $1,500. It was accepted with the caveat that it be completed 15 days from the day after the meeting.
