County continues grant process for recycling center

Several business matters concerning a grant for the upcoming Ozark County Recycling Center project were discussed and approved during the regular meeting of the Ozark County Commissioners Monday morning.
The commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution to apply for the Community Development Block Grant. CDBG is a federal funding program from by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a program of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. The program is only for counties with population under 200,000 and certain towns. Money from this grant program will help with funding for improvements to the Ozark County Recycling Center.
The commissioners also set a date for public hearing on grant. Sarah Callahan, Project Development Manager from the South Central Ozarks Council of Government, will hold the hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 in the meeting room on the second floor of the Ozark County Courthouse.
The deadline for proposals for professional grant writing and administrative services to be submitted to the commissioners was set for Monday, June 23.
The commissioners also signed the current County Procurement and Conflict of Interest policy.
In other business, the commissioners opened and approved two bids - one for a single audit and the other for a dump truck to replace the one that burned earlier in 2025.
The commissioners approved the only bid for the audit. The bid from Diedeker is for $10,500.
Also approved was a bid for $14,000 to cover the cost of a dump truck from Farmer’s 280 Fertilizer in Freeburg. The new truck will replace the truck that was destroyed by fire earlier this year.
The Ozark County Commissioners hold a regular weekly meeting at 9 a.m. Mondays in the meeting room across from the commission’s office on the upper level of the Ozark County Courthouse. The meetings are open to the public and anyone is invited to attend as an observer or to discuss a topic. For more information, call 417-679-4096.
