County road that ran through church parking lot moved

This photo shows the new portion of County Road 518, which used to run through the parking lot of Mammoth Assembly of God Church. The new portion goes around the church and west of a parsonage. The road was moved, thanks to collaboration from the county, church and landowners who worked out a land swap to redirect the road.
An Ozark County road that ran through the Mammoth Assembly of God Church parking lot has been moved, according to Ozark County commissioners.
“It’s been an issue pretty much ever since I’ve been a commissioner, 20-something years,” said Eastern District Commissioner Gary Collins.
“The church burned several years ago, and they rebuilt on the other side of (County Road 518),” Collins said.
“Then, as the church grew, the parking lot sort of expanded until some of it was on the other side of the road,” Collins said.
The moving of the road was a collaboration of county officials and the church, along with landowners.
“I want to give a shout out to Dan and Luke Brantingham and Zach McKinzie for helping make this happen,” said Presiding County Commissioner Terry Newton. “It was a dangerous situation there.”
The new portion of the road is now open for traffic, commissioners said.
