Donation made to every fire department in Ozark County in honor of Inez Pahlmann
Each volunteer fire department in Ozark County has recently received a donation of $1,000, thanks to the generosity of Jack and the late Inez Pahlmann of West Plains.
The donation checks were mailed to Ozark County’s 14 different volunteer fire departments at Bakersfield, Brixey/Rockbridge, Caney Mountain, Caulfield, Dora, Gainesville, Lick Creek, Pontiac/Price Place, Tecumseh, Theodosia, Thornfield, Timber Knob and Wasola.
The gift was accompanied by a letter from Jack:
“Ozark County means a lot to me, even though I live next door in Howell County. My late wife, Inez Freeman Pahlmann, who passed away in August, was born at Sycamore and attended Bushong School. I have a number of friends in Ozark County.
“I understand from reading in the Ozark County Times that the rural fire departments are facing financial hardship. To that end, I am donating $1,000 to each of you in remembrance of Inez. Please use these funds in any manner you wish. No strings attached. My very best to you all, Jack Pahlmann.”
Several fire chiefs who were contacted by the Times relayed their very sincere thanks for the generous donation.

Editor’s note: Jack Pahlmann did not seek news coverage or publicity of this donation. Instead, the Times was made aware of the donation at this month’s city council meeting and reached out to Jack for more information in order to recognize this gracious and generous donation.
