Driver of semi injured in Bakersfield crash

A 58-year-old Mountain View, Missouri, man was transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains March 13 after sustaining moderate injuries in a semi rollover crash on Highway 101, three miles south of Bakersfield. 

The man was driving a 1998 Peterbuilt semi truck with a trailer load of road asphalt when he failed to negotiate a curve and the truck overturned around 6 a.m. that day, according to the MSHP online crash report. The report says he was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash led to the closure of Highway 101 for more than eight hours and a power outage for 467 residents in the Bakersfield and Caulfield areas. Those responding for clean up and traffic control included Bakersfield and Tecumseh VFDs, Howell Oregon Electric Cooperative, West Plains Fire Department for Hazmat services, Ozark County Ambulance, South Howell County Ambulance (on Hazmat standby) Midway Towing and FMC Transport.
