Filing opens for school, municipal board elections next Tuesday, Dec. 10

Those interested in filing for seats coming open on Ozark County’s school boards and municipality boards can do so from Dec. 10-31. 

For the most part, those interested can file at the respective school or city/village office during regular hours. Filing will not be held at schools when inclement weather leads to a school day closure or during holiday breaks. In Ozark County, these seats will be up for election during the April 8, 2025, General Municipal Election. See full legal notices, page 10.

 

School boards

Bakersfield School Board: There are two positions up for election on the Bakersfield School Board. File in person at the Bakersfield School from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Dec. 10 through Dec. 20 when school is in session. Filing can also be done from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 31. Dora School Board: There are two positions up for election on the Dora School Board. File in person at Dora School from 8 to 4 Dec. 10-19 when school is in session. Filing can also be done from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the last day of filing, Dec. 31. For more information, call Superintendent Brett Mitchell at 417-543-0795.

Gainesville School Board: There are two positions with a three year term and one position for a one year term up for election on the Gainesville School Board. File in person at the Gainesville School Central Office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday Dec. 10 through Dec. 19 when school is in session. Filing can also be done from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 31. For more information, call Gainesville School at 417-679-4200.

Lutie School Board: There are two positions up for election on the Lutie School Board. File in person at the Lutie superintendent’s office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday Dec. 10 through Dec. 20 when school is in session. Filing can also be done from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 31. For more information, call Lutie School at 417-273-4274.

Mark Twain School Board: There are two positions up for election on the Mark Twain School Board. File in person at the school from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10-19, or from 7:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 20. For more information, call 417-794-3382.

Thornfield School Board: There are two positions up for election on the Thornfield School Board. File in person at the Thornfield School from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. during regular school hours Dec. 10 through Dec. 20 when school is in session. The school will be closed Dec. 23-31. Municipal boards

Village of Bakersfield: There are two positions open on the Village of Bakersfield City Council. File in person at Bakersfield City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Dec. 10-31, or by calling 417-284-7238 or 417-284-1626. 

City of Gainesville: There are three positions open on the Gainesville City Council, one alderman from each the east, center and west districts of the city. File in person at City Hall, located on the northwest corner of the Gainesville square, from 8 to noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Dec. 10-31.  

Village of Theodosia: There are three positions that will be open on the Village of Theodosia board, those of John Maglione, Kim Homer and Julie Rothenberg. File in person at Theodosia Village Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 10-31. For more information, call Village Hall at 417-273-4830.

Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Ozark County (Theodosia): There will be one position up for election for the Public Water Supply District No. 1, that of Julie Rothenberg. To file in person at the PWSD #1 office, located at 85 Westwood in Theodosia, between 8 a.m. Dec. 10 and 5 p.m. Dec. 31. For more information, call PWSD #1 at 417-273-4825.

Ozark County Ambulance: There are two positions up for election on the Ozark County Ambulance board. File in person at the Ozark County Clerk’s office, located on the main floor of the Ozark County Courthouse in Gainesville, between 8 and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Dec. 10-31.
