Fireworks show approved

Doug Hawkins with the Ozark County Chamber of Commerce attended last week’s city council meeting to ask for approval to hold a July 4 fireworks show in town.
The fireworks show would be set off by Kirk and Segra Stephens of Foggy Bottom Fireworks from the top of the ridge facing the east side of the square. Hawkins obtained approval from the owner of the land for the firework shooting site, as well as neighboring property owners. The location makes for a good view from the square or saddle club arena. Hawkins said that the Gainesville Saddle Club is also hosting a Tommy Rand Rodeo that same night, and they hope to coordinate both efforts, shooting the fireworks off during a break in the rodeo. The council approved the show unanimously.
The Chamber of Commerce is currently selling sponsorships and hosting a gun raffle to raise money for the fireworks show. Contact Hawkins at Shelter Insurance, 417-679-3522 or Mason Eslinger at Stockmens Bank, 417-679-3080.
