Governor gives award to Bakersfield teenager

Max Bean

Bakersfield teenager Max Bean is being recognized at the state level for his help finding a missing woman recently with the use of his drone - an act that saved a family member’s life.

The Missouri Attorney General’s Office recently presented Bean with the Attorney General Honors Award, which recognizes extraordinary Missourians who have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact in their communities.

On Sunday, Aug. 3,, the woman, Robin Mullins, was reported missing that morning. Family members, volunteer firefighters, law enforcement officers, a K9 unit and other community volunteers launched an extensive search that stretched into the afternoon. After more than 10 hours of search, Max arrived and used his drone to scan fields and wooded areas near Bakersfield. He eventually spotted Robin lying in the field under an area of trees, enabling rescuers to reach her quickly and bring her to safety.

The Attorney General’s Office commended Max for representing the values of service and compassion that strengthen Missouri communities.

“This award highlights the steadfast need we have for each other,” the office said in a statement. “We are proud to honor Max Bean for his quick thinking, dedication, and willingness to help in a time of urgent need.”

Max’s story has become a reminder of how strong Ozark County’s small towns are and the help of the community can often make the difference in a life-or-death situation. In this case, his actions not only brought relief to his family but also inspired many others in the process.
