The Ozark County Volunteer Library will reopen Monday, June 17, after being closed since May 20 for repair work to improve the front access to the building.
“If the number of phone calls we have received is any indication, a lot of people have missed the library while it has been closed,” said library board president Joanne Krupp. “We are grateful to have been able to complete this work because of a grant received through the Libraries Transforming Communities, Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provided the resources to help us better serve people with disabilities. We were one of 240 small, rural libraries that received funds. We believe the work that has been done has significantly improved access. These funds are also enabling us to purchase additional large-print books and a collection of materials for neuro-diverse children. We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable in our new and improved space.”
The library’s operating hours will be Mondays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon. For more information, call the library at 417-679-4442.
