Meeting to address rezoning for 2 new businesses is Tues.

In addition to its regular business to be taken up next Tuesday, Dec. 9, the Gainesville City Council will be conducting two public hearings concerning local requests to rezone property within the city limits to allow the establishment of two new businesses here.

The hearings and following city council meeting will be held at City Hall, located on the northwest corner of the Gainesville square, beginning at 6 p.m. that night.

The first topic to be taken up is the request to rezone a property located at 144 Elm Street. The property is currently zoned as a residential property for a 1-2 family dwelling; however, the home that recently stood in that location has been removed. Ray and Missy Grisham have requested that the city allow the property to be rezoned as a commercial property, which would enable them to construct multi-unit storage sheds in that location and operate a related business.

The second request to be taken up, set for 6:15 p.m. that night, is that from Jarrod Kleeman, who has asked that a property at 1392 County Road 806 in Gainesville be changed from the same residential 1-2 family dwelling property into a commercial property, which would allow him to operate an auto repair shop in that location.

The regular city council meeting will be taken up after those public hearings conclude. The meetings are open to the public, and anyone interested is invited to attend. To find out more, call City Hall at 417-679-4858.
