The 2023 Real Ozarks Magazine, a glossy-covered, full-color guide to exploring Ozark County and the surrounding area, is now available at the Times office and wherever newspapers are sold.
The popular magazine, published annually by the Times, is also distributed at visitor centers across the state, including the centers at Eagleville, Hannibal, Joplin, Kansas City, St. Louis, Conway, Rock Port, Hayti, Springfield, West Plains and more.

This year’s cover photo was taken by David Crane of Washington, Missouri. The photo features two-and-a-half-year-old yellow lab Frankie enjoying Bull Shoals Lake from a paddle board. David said Frankie has been with the Crane family since she was weaned from her mother and is a very disciplined and friendly family dog who loves the water and water sports. She enjoys riding in/on a kayak, row boat, paddle board or motorized paddle board, David said. The Crane Family has been visiting family members who live on Bull Shoals Lake for the past 30 years and have a family cabin on the Spring Creek branch of Bull Shoals Lake, which means Frankie has a lot of opportunity to enjoy swimming and boating in Bull Shoals Lake.
The magazine features information on lakes and rivers in the area, fishing reports, river outfitters, places to stay, recreation areas, hiking trail information, scenic drives, historic mills, hunting, festivals, restaurants and more. An advertisers’ index lets readers quickly find informational ads that share what area
businesses offer.
The magazine is available free at the Times office and at other locations where the Times is sold. Readers from outside the area can order one to be shipped to them for a $5 mailing fee. Call 417-679-4641 to provide address and payment details.
Local resort or business owners are welcome to pick up a bundle of The Real Ozarks magazines from the Times office to distribute to guests and visitors.
