Popular truck pulls are Saturday night

Hold on to your tailpipes, the high-revving truck pulls are coming to Gainesville.

WW Promotions will host the wildly popular truck pulls at 7 p.m. Saturday night at the Gainesville Saddle Club Arena. The event was planned for earlier in the year, but was postponed due to heavy rains.

Christine Lewis, an organizer with WW Promotions said “everyone in Gainesville quit your rain dances for just a little while.”

Lewis said any hometown heroes with a tough truck can try their luck in the Hometown Class against their Intimidator Sled.

Admission at the gate will be $10 per person.

Last year’s truck pull is believed to have attracted the largest crowd in the Gainesville Saddle Club’s history, club president Monty Hambelton said.

Fifty-five trucks entered the competition last year, and 750 people paid the $10 admission fee. Each competing truck had two people, adding another 110 attendees to the total.

Hambelton also joked that as many as 100 people “probably sneaked in” without paying.
