Public hearing on recreational marijuana sales in Gainesville city limits is 5:30 p.m. March 21
The city council’s agenda for the Feb. 14 meeting included a 5:30 p.m. public hearing before the main city council meeting in which citizens could voice their opinions on whether or not the city should allow the sale of recreational marijuana inside the city limits. A meeting notice was posted at City Hall prior to the hearing, as legally required, but no one showed up to give an opinion for or against offering the sale of recreational marijuana in the city.
The city council discussed the matter and decided that they would like to publicize the public hearing better so that people who may have an opinion on the matter will know about the meeting and come to share their thoughts.
The public hearing has been moved to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, before the next city council meeting. Everyone is welcome. Those who attend the public hearing will have a chance to share their opinions on the matter. There is no need to call City Hall to be put on the agenda ahead of time.
