Showcase your artwork at Ozark County Volunteer Library in Gainesville

Eileen McKenna’s artwork is currently on display at the Ozark County Volunteer library. An artist’s statement about McKenna next to a large oil painting explains that she currently lives in the Ozarks and began painting later in life. She was originally a self-taught artist, but as her interest in art she took classes in various artistic mediums. “I’ve found that the art classes made my creativity flourish. I’ve volunteered at a mental health facility in Springfield for 10 years. We create art pieces by combining various objects recycled, found or donated. The students really enjoy it, and their art helps them convey their challenges.” To contact McKenna about her artwork, email eileen_mckenna@yahoo.com.

Are you an artist? The Ozark County Volunteer Library in Gainesville is hosting a visiting artist exhibit at the library on a rotating basis. Organizer Lisa Atkinson said the program is aimed at engaging the local community with works of art from artists in the area - young and old.

“The visiting artists enrich our community by allowing the public to see the art of local visual artists,” Atkinson said. “Every artist will be exhibited at the library.”

The program encourages artists of all ages and skills to participate, from children to those late in life.

For more information on the visiting artist program, contact Lisa Atkinson at lisaatkinson@gmail.com or call the Ozark County Volunteer Library at 417-679-4442.
