Theodosia resident Reuben Perlee has earned a place on the Team USA 2024 World Multi-Sport Championship in Australia. The local teen plans to attend and compete in the global competition, which is scheduled for August 2024.

Perlee earned a spot on the team after placing first in his age division of 15- to 19-year-olds in the sprint duathlon at the USA Multi-sport National Championships in Irving, Texas.

The sprint duathlon is a run-bike-run competition in which competitors run 5 kilometers, bicycle 20 kilometers and run the final distance of 3.3 kilometers. Perlee completed the Texas course with a time of 1:12:08.

The first place win in Texas earned him the position to represent Team USA at the 2024 World Multi-sport Championships in Australia.
