Tractor reported stolen from Brixey farm is found later in creek bed with dead battery
The Ozark County Sheriff’s Department says it does not yet have an official suspect in the theft of a John Deere tractor that was reported stolen on June 23, but it does have some persons of interests and is continuing its investigation. The tractor, a John Deere 7410 cab tractor with a front-end loader and post-hole digger, was reported stolen by a resident from a site on County Road 150, off N Highway, in the Brixey area.
After the theft was reported, a photo of the tractor was posted to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page, where 245 people shared the post.
The sheriff’s department was notified by the owner on Saturday that he had located the tractor in a creek on his property while checking cattle that morning. The tractor’s battery was dead, and the post hole digger had been tampered with in an apparent attempt to remove it from the tractor. No other damage was reported, OCSD said.
The Times will continue to report on the case if charges are filed.
