Traffic can now cross bridge on CR883 in Longrun for first time since last November

These photos show the progression of the County Road 338 Bridge over Pond Fork in Longrun. The bridge washed out last November (photo, far left), leaving motorists without a way across. The weather delayed the project from some time, but the bridge was poured last week and opened to traffic Monday.

After nine months off waiting and repeated setbacks from flooding, Ozark County’s new bridge on County Road 883 is finally rebuilt and reopened, giving motorists in the Longrun area a convenient passage over Pond Fork.
The original structure washed out in November 2024, leaving the county road, located off Highway D or 95, impassable in that area. Since then, every time the county’s road and bridge crew began work, another round of heavy rains brought flooding that stalled progress.
Last week, progress finally poured - literally - as crews placed the concrete deck on the new 108-foot span.
The project was spearheaded by the Ozark County Road and Bridge westside crew under the direction of foreman Keith Wyman. County workers formed the bridge, with assistance from Greg Simpson and Winston Scott’s crew during the pour. Concrete Placement of the Ozarks furnished the pumper truck, and Ozark County Ready Mix supplied the concrete.
Western District County Commissioner Layne Nance said it’s a welcome development for residents who have been forced to take long detours while the bridge was out.
The bridge’s completion means better connectivity for the rural area and relief for locals who say they are happy to have to the bridge passable once more, especially when the lake keeps traffic from crossing the nearby Haskins Ford area.
