UTVs are not allowed on city streets

The Gainesville City Council recently reemphasized a city ordinance prohibiting the operation of UTVs, side-by-sides, ATVs, four-wheelers and other utility vehicles on city streets.

City officials noted that while permits may be available for certain vehicles to operate on state highways and county roads, the City of Gainesville does not issue permits for those vehicles and does not allow them on city streets.

The ordinance applies only to city-maintained streets and does not affect state highways or county roads located within the city limits.
