WASHOUT: Heavy rains wreak havoc on area roads

A section of Highway 181 near Hodgson Mill was ripped out by flood waters when Bryant Creek swelled due to heavy rains over the weekend. At press time, Highway 181 was still closed as debris was being removed from the bridge and road and necessary repairs are being made. Also closed with water over the roads late Monday was Route 95 and H Highway in Ozark County. The county received several inches of rain over the weekend, and the precipitation fell on already-saturated ground, forcing most of it to run off into streams and lakes. County commissioners said Monday that several county roads were damaged in the weekend torrent and that more rain is expected later in the week.
