The day also included lunch and a rainfall simulator presentation that demonstrated the importance of ground cover. The second tray from the left is a sample of forage from Edwards’ farm. The demonstration was confirmation to Edwards that her farm is responding well to grazing management, said April Wilson, lead resource conservationist with USDA-NRCS.
University of Missouri Extension agronomist Dr. Sarah Kenyon presented information on forages and weed control at the Women’s Grazing Day Conference Saturday at Lisa Edwards’ farm near Thornfield. Edwards also shared her story, the progress she has made on the farm in the last eight years and tips she’s learned along the way. Women interested in attending upcoming events are encouraged to email Wilson at April.Wilson@mo.usda.gov.
