Zanoni man seriously injured in two car crash

Clarence F. Shaw, 89, of Zanoni, was transported by Air Evac helicopter ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield June 17, following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 181, four miles north of Gainesville.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online crash report, Shaw was traveling northbound on Highway 181, about four miles north of Gainesville, in a 2006 Ford F250, when a 1994 GMC pickup, driven by 59-year-old Darin Smith of Gainesville, pulled out onto the highway from a private driveway, heading southbound. Shaw struck the towed unit of Smith’s vehicle, the report says.
Smith was wearing a seatbelt. It is unknown if Shaw was wearing one. Both vehicles were insured.
The Ford truck was extensively damaged and towed from the scene by Ron’s Recovery. The GMC was not damaged.
The crash was investigated by MSHP Sgt. A. R. Johnson.
