Loggins 50th anniversary

Thomas and Cheryl Loggins of Howards Ridge will mark their 50th wedding anniversary May 13. The couple were married May 13, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cheryl grew up in Burlington, Iowa, and moved with her family to California when she was 11. Thomas was born in West Virginia, grew up in Kentucky and then moved to California when he was about 25. They met when Cheryl’s niece and her fiance introduced them on what was “basically a blind date,” Cheryl said. After dating a year and a half, they drove to Las Vegas to be married. They lived in California more than 30 years, raising seven children and an adopted child. When Cheryl’s Iowa-born brothers, Herman Baker, Galen Baker and Jake Baker, migrated back to the Midwest and settled in Missouri, Cheryl and Thomas followed, moving to Howards Ridge in October 2011. Three of their children live nearby. They also have 15 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. They’ll celebrate their anniversary with a trip to Oklahoma with some of their family members, stopping first in Miami and then traveling on to visit Thomas’ sister, Patsy Wimbish, in Tulsa.
