Six new members of the Ozark County University of Missouri Extension Council will be elected during voting Jan. 14-20 at various sites around the county, says county program director Randy Wiedmeier.
For voting purposes, the council divides Ozark County into two districts, east and west, and all residents age 18 and older may vote one time for no more than three nominees in their district of residence.
The six new members to be elected, three from each district, will serve two-year terms. The new council begins its duties March 1, according to state law.
The nominees and their districts are:

District II – East – Joe Corbin, Stephanie Guffey, Martie Morrison, Joe Uchtman, Les Snorgrass and Justin Strong.
Voting will be done during business hours Jan. 14 – 20 at these sites:

The council consists of 14 members, including five elected incumbents who will be serving out the remaining year of their two-year term, joined by the six members elected this month.
Other members are appointed: one member of the county commission, one member from a farm organization with 25 or more members in the county (in this case, Farm Bureau) and in counties having no city of 10,000 population, a representative of one town designated by the council, with the city representative residing within the respective city.
The council works with University of Missouri Extension staff members, including Wiedmeier and Extension staff to plan and make recommendations for education programs. The Extension service offers educational programs in such categories as agriculture, food and nutrition, business and industry, community development, youth development (4-H and various continuing-education courses and workshops).
