My cousin Lyle Mishler called me and said it was an exciting time when 15 Ozark Countians gathered together at the Golden Corral in Springfield recently for a reunion. There was lots of visiting and tall tales. They are making it a regular event.

One of the older ones present was 95-year-old Fray Hillhouse of Springfield. It was a very enjoyable day for him, I’m sure. His twin brother Ray is deceased.

My daughter Kris Luebbert was busy Monday getting my yard work done.

April 12 is the birthday of one of our best presidents, Abraham Lincoln. He came from a humble background.

I am seeing my doctor in Mountain Home, Arkansas, for a foot injury. My two daughters went with me Tuesday for a return visit.

The tress are budding here. Hopefully my three apple trees, which are in full bloom, will not get frozen. It would be nice to have a full crop of apples. My two pear trees have also been in bloom.

Dave Davis was in Mountain Home, Monday morning. While there he bought pear trees to set out.

It will soon be time to dig some sassafras roots and have sassafras tea. Fresh from the ground is much better than the bottled product. My ancestors used it for a spring tonic. It’s supposed to help your blood and revive you after the long winter months. I recommend it.

Mahlon and Randie Schmucker and their daughter from Florida visited me one day last week after they had been to West Plains and were on their way home.

Helen Conardy also came by last week for a short visit. Her son Joe has been ill and at this time is feeling better, I think.

Thanks so much to one of my best friends, Doris Treiber, for giving me the quilt she bought from me several years ago. She said she thought I should have it back where it could be used because it was stacked away in her closet. She is a well-known quilter.

The birds have been busy for some time getting their nests ready and possibly already laying their eggs

It was good to hear from my friend Alene Herd in Miller recently.

Jerry Miller has been busy with her company from Louisiana.

I enjoyed the Ozark County Times story about the morel mushrooms. I would love to be finding some mushrooms myself.
