Burglars hit Theodosia liquor store, community responds with helping hands

Personnel from Bull Shoals Lake Package and Outdoor Sportsman, a Theodosia store off Highway 160, said they were overwhelmed by the community support they received after burglars broke through the shop’s glass-pane door. The list of what was taken in the break-in was not available at press time. 

“Words cannot express how thankful we are for our wonderful customers and friends,” a post to the store’s Facebook page says. “To see how everyone has come together to help us this last couple days is amazing. When the news was out about what these dirtbags did, some wonderful men were there with tools and strong backs in a moment’s notice. They came running without hesitation to get us back in business.”

The store owners first were alerted to the break-in Friday, July 27, and posted a Facebook alert  letting their customers know about the delay in opening due to the damage. The post indicated that the burglars were recorded on audio and video on the store’s security camera system. 

Local residents responded with offers of help to clean up the mess and get the store back on its feet. Neighbors and community members then showed up to help. 

“All the local businesses and employees…that have stepped up to help catch the scum, we so appreciate all your help. You know who you are, and you have no idea how grateful we are. We’ve been truly blessed with all the calls, messages and sweet friends stopping in to check on us and offering support. We are so proud to be part of a community that comes running in bad times. We couldn’t ask for a better posse!” the post continued. 

The business owners said they’ve turned all the evidence over to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department. The investigation is ongoing. The Times will post updates in the case if charges are filed.
