Big Bob's fishing report: July 12, 2017

With summer upon us and with lake levels still extremely high, writing a fishing report can be a challenge. Daytime fishing is pretty limited with early morning or late evening your best chance to catch fish. For bass, look at the old brush line with jigs and try to fish from 15 to 25 feet. Some top-water activity may be available early and late in the day. Speaking of top-water, the Wopper Popper is now available in another size, bigger than the small version and smaller than their large version.

Walleye are being caught along main lake points in 25 to 30 feet trolling night crawlers or deep-diving plugs. It helps to use a bottom bouncer to get the bait deep. Catfish have remained active as well as big bluegill. Somewhere along deep banks, the larger bluegill hang out this time of year. If you can find them, you can usually catch enough for a good meal.

To say business has been slow would be an understatement. This week, Wednesday through Saturday, we are offering 30 percent off everything in the store except motor oil and live bait. Can’t afford a $100 rod or reel? Buy during this sale and get a $30 discount. This sale applies to all hard baits and soft plastics.
