Angela Mayhew, 73
Memorial services for Angela Mayhew, 73, of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. May 3, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gainesville. Angela died unexpectedly Sunday, March 30, 2025, in St. Louis.
Angela was born on May 31, 1951, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Robert Paul Mayhew Jr. and Virgie Mae Mayhew. She was the oldest of eight siblings - six girls and two boys.
Angela was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in June 1967. She attended school in Westbury, Long Island, New York, and graduated high school in 1969. Angela loved serving her God, Jehovah, and upon graduation, she devoted 100 hours each month to her public ministry work of sharing Bible truths with all she met.
After a short while, Angela left home to move to Queens, New York, and then she moved on to the states of Virginia, Maryland, and finally to Gainesville.
Angela was very creative and loved to knit, make soaps, and cook delicious foods. She will be truly missed, but we know she will be in Jehovah’s memory as we all look forward to a resurrection hope. All who knew her will miss her.
She is survived by sisters: Teresa Rosewell and her husband Lester, Sharon Davis, Sheila Johnson, Karen Blanding and her husband Frederick, and Roberta Mayhew; brothers: Robert Mayhew III and Christopher Mayhew; and her beloved German shepherd Max, of the fourth generation, or in other words, she had four Maxes.
Angela never married and did not have any children, but she leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews belonging to Sharon, Sheila, Karen and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
