Betty Heide, 78

A memorial service for Betty Heide, 78, of Buford, Georgia, formerly of Gainesville, will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 30, 2023, at Mammoth Assembly of God in Gainesville with Gale Wooten officiating.
She died Aug. 23 at the Oaks at Limestone in Gainesville, Georgia, with her daughter by her side.
Betty was born Nov. 20, 1944, to Lester and Audney (Orr) Blair at Wild Cherry, Arkansas.
Betty graduated high school in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, in May of 1962. She moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1970 and started working at Baxter Healthcare Corporation where she met Gareth (Gary) Heide. They were married Dec. 17, 1970. Betty worked in plastics at Baxter Healthcare Corporation until she retired in 2001 as a level 3 film line operator.
Betty’s passion was decorating and making arts and crafts. Her artistic ability shone in later years with work at the Possum Walk Peddler, a business she owned in downtown Gainesville. She enjoyed making fantastic creations until she could no longer do so.
Betty is survived by her husband Gary Heide of the family home; two sons, Rodney Prewitt and his wife Jennifer and Larry Heide; daughter Heather Heide and husband Wendell Hawxby; and grandchildren Austin Prewitt, Garrett Hawxby and Cara Hawxby.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Audney and Lester Blair, and two grandsons: Matthew Prewitt and Marcus Davis.
