Bonnie Marie Smith Luna, 95

Funeral services for Bonnie Marie Smith Luna, 95, of Gainesville, were held June 27, 2025, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville. Burial was at Ball Cemetery near Dora.

She died June 23 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava. She was the daughter of Sigel and Carrie (Newton) Smith. Bonnie was born and raised in Ozark County and lived her whole life there.

Bonnie was one of 14 kids. In 1948, she married Delbert Luna, an only child. No one in Bonnie’s family seemed to notice there was an extra person around. Delbert fit right in and was treated as another brother. Delbert and Bonnie had three daughters: Carolyn, Marilyn and Shorty.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Sue Cockman and Larry, Marilyn Tilley and Shirley “Shorty” Sinor and Delbert; five siblings: Floyd Smith, Frank Smith, Nancy Kelley, Bernice Zigler and Mike Smith; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by death by her husband; her parents; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and eight siblings: Norine Loftis, Blanche Sukow, Joe Smith, Obie Smith, Vilas Smith, Floy Tucker, David Smith and Roselle Howard.
