Brenda Merilda Puffett, 78

A funeral ceremony for Brenda Merilda Puffett, 78, of Claremore, Oklahoma, was held Sept. 11, 2026, at Rice Funeral Service Chapel in Oklahoma. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery.

She died Sept. 5. Brenda was born on Aug. 25, 1948, in Leachfield, Arkansas, to Doy Kellum and Liddie (Garrison) Nave. She graduated from high school in Gainesville. She married Kenneth Puffett on June 6, 1965, in Theodosia. She later worked in sales and banking.

Brenda was a great woman of God with real honor in what we now call the past. One of family, quilting, crafting, gardening, baking and counseling. Her spirit lit up every room she walked into. Her bubbly personality and warmth touched every person she spoke to. Her wit and charm made ordinary days magical. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She always spoiled and doted on them whenever she could. She showed her love with sweet treats and savory meals. She was a blessing to all.

Brenda made every person she knew feel special. Her love for her family and friends was evergreen; her kindness was a warm hug that you never wanted to end. She was the best at baking, and she truly loved celebrating holidays with her family. The way she cared for her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, was amazing. She was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend anyone could dream of. She will be so very missed.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Kenneth; children, Tonia Puffett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tony Puffet and his wife, Michelle, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jami Puffett of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Elza Puffett, of Charleston, South Carolina, Allison Puffett, of Overland Park, Kansas, Logan Puffett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Jody Body, and niece, Brandy Hendrix.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tommy Kellum.
