Clarence ‘Dub’ Scott, 85

Graveside funeral services for Clarence Wesley (C.W.) “Dub” Scott, 85, of Gainesville, were held May 8, 2025, in the Sims Cemetery. 

He died May 4, surrounded by his family. He was born April 12, 1940, in Delaware, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Viola Scott.

Dub’s family moved to Longrun when he was young. He went to Barefoot School until the fifth grade. He had 11 siblings. He married Ethel Smart on Sept. 12, 1959. They had three children, Wesley Dean, Shelia and David. Dub liked to cut logs, do mechanic work and farm. He loved his family and joking around.

He is survived by his wife Ethel; daughter Shelia McCullough and partner Alfred Pace; son David and wife Sherri; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Albert and wife Shelia Scott, Frank Scott, and Ernie Scott and wife Bretta; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by both parents; son Wesley Dean; granddaughter Tousha Dinwiddie; siblings: Elvie Scott, Bob Scott, J.T. Scott, Pauline Akin, Mary Lou Scott, Ann Hamm, Louis Myers and Shirly Readen.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
