Dolores Tole

Funeral services for Dolores Tole, 95, of Dora, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Ball Church of Christ, in Dora. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in the Ball Cemetery. She died on April 19 at Gainesville Healthcare Center.
Dolores Tole, daughter of the late Moss L. and Thelma (Ousley) Hill, was born April 5, 1930, in Dora. Dolores grew up in Dora and graduated from grade school at Odom. She later graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1948. She married James Allan Tole on March 25, 1950, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Two children were born to this union.
After her high school graduation, Dolores and her sister Prisilla moved to Duey, Oklahoma, where they worked as telephone operators. Dolores also worked for the state of Oklahoma for many years.
James and Dolores lived in Oklahoma and then later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where James played in the Grand Ole Opry. The couple returned to Dora and built their house. They opened the Crossroads Store and Canoe Rental. They made lots of lifetime friends.
Dolores was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her sister, Josephine Reed; five grandchildren: James Ross and wife Sophia, Melissa Ross, Jason Ross and wife Sherry, Michael Dustin Tole and James Dylan Tole; great-grandchildren: Andrew Ross and wife Kara, Kelcy Ross, Emily Craig and husband Matthew, James Ross, John Ross, Julianna Ross, and Joseph Ross; one great-great-grandchild, Luke Ross; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Allan Tole; her parents; daughter Barbara Ross; son Mark Tole; brothers: James “Sonny” Hill and Thomas Hill; and sisters: Prisilla Parks and Jaqueline Collins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ball Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
